Internet Email Money Dating Scams

Internet Email Money Dating Scams

Thanks so much for joining us at AdatingNet.com. We're very glad to have you and hope to help you find your perfect match.  Attached file is some images that are commonly used by scammers.

More images below:

These are not photos of the scammers themselves, but images they have stolen from the internet - from real people whose reputations are damaged daily by the thieves. For that reason, we ask that the photo(s) you use belong to you and are not copyrighted images taken from any other website or person. Users that post copyrighted photos from other sites will have their accounts disabled immediately upon discovery. If you see any of the photos below on Single123.com, please let us know immediately.

We would like to take a quick minute to remind you that you need to use any dating site in a safe manner. If somebody asks you for money or suggests a 'business partnership' with you, please read more about dating scams or internet scams using your favorite search engine. Some of the things to look out for include 'falling in love' within a few e-mails; being called to an international job and suddenly finding themselves "without funds"; being asked to wire money via Western Union or Money Gram for any reason; or being in a 'refugee camp' and having a large inheritance that needs "moved out of the country". Also *never* agree to be a 're-mailer' - one who receives merchandise & forwards it to another person or country. Generally that merchandise is purchased with stolen credit cards, and you would most likely be arrested as an accomplice to the theft. Most of the 'wire money' scams originate in Nigeria, but please do not think that everybody from Nigeria is a scammer. That is far from the truth. There are good and bad people in every culture - in every country. Please use common sense and be skeptical of everything. You must be responsible and protect yourself and your family.

Think about it. How hard is it to copy the picture of a wedding dress or wedding/engagement ring from the internet & insist that it has already been purchased in your size? If it 'sounds too good to be true' - or 'looks too good to be true' - it probably is. If they tell you that their first language is English, and their skills are sorely lacking - your 5 year old has a better command of the language - then you know there's something wrong.

There are many tools you can use to protect yourself. FireFox has a browser extension called 'who stole my picture' that can reveal photos in places you'd never expect to find them. Googles reverse image search is your friend. You can copy & paste a portion of an unusual or unique phrase in quotes into Google and search to see if it has been used elsewhere on the net. Many scam-fighting sites publish scammers letters in their entirety - and if you've been approached by a scammer, chances are their first few e-mails are just copied and pasted from files they keep for trying to lure a victim in. If that is the case, you'll find out with just a few clicks of your mouse, and save yourself a world of heartache and maybe even save yourself from financial ruin.

Be leery of people who want you to leave the dating site & move to chat or e-mail elsewhere. When you get such an e-mail outside of the Single123 system, click to see the full headers - and do a reverse IP search from the headers. There are websites where you can copy & paste those headers to see where your new love is really writing from.

And most importantly, NEVER send your bank account information or copies of your passport or state-issued identification to anybody. There is no legal or logical reason they could possibly need it (no matter how much they try to justify it). If they tell you that 'their attorney' is handling it, chances are the 'new' person you're communicating with is the scammers boss. The last thing you want is for them to have a copy of your ID. Maybe you think they can't do anything to your life, but they can use your ID to scam somebody else - or steal your identity for their own nefarious purposes.

Please don't say "but can't mine be real". Protect yourself and your family, and search for "your perfect match" safely.

If anybody approaches you for money, please let us know immediately. You will need to send a copy of the e-mail as well as full headers in order for us to take action. We are dedicated to trying to keep the Single123.com experience secure and a pleasure for you to use. With your help, we will continue to provide a place where you can meet the person you've been looking for.

Internet Dating Scams have been spreading widely lately. There are many singles become a victim of online dating scams. Many of these people don't even know they are scammed until it is too late when they lost money already. These internet scammers try to get money from singles at either paid or free dating sites. Most of these online dating scams tell innocent people about their sob stories like Father's death, lack of money, etc. The whole point is to get money from these innocent singles online. Most of them are from international countries and all they do is to scam money from people online. A scammer can work alone but he/she also works in a group of females and males. Online dating scams spend their time to create false profiles and post attractive photos through both paid and free singles sites. Sometimes they use their own photos but sometimes they use model's pictures to post online. When you interact or chat with someone online, it is not difficult to recognize whether they are dating scammers or not. They usually explain in detailed that they are living in another country and cannot afford travel expenses to come to your country for a visit. They have to gain your trust and affection so they can ask you to send them some money through postal or bank transfer.

Dating scammers are smart in getting your affection by telling their sob stories either by emails or chats. The most popular postal dating scams is the Nigerian 419 scam (Advanced Free Fraud or AFF). They live in African countries, including Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Ghana, etc. However, when they chat with you, they usually say they live in US, UK, Australia, etc. They have many different reasons to get your affection, including lack of money for education or travel, illness, education expense, and etc.

So, don't be fooled in being their victims. You have to fight them. Generally speaking, when you receive any email that ask for money, you should report to us immediately.

Please report to us immediately if you think any profile on our free dating site is one of such online dating scams as we mentioned above.
